Who is behind ROUGH ROAD? Sam and Dani Jupe are the husband and wife team behind ROUGH ROAD. After years of importing and selling European caravans, they realised what they were using just wasn’t built for New Zealand roads, so they started looking at the Australian market, where off-grid caravans and hybrid trailers are built to handle more unpredictable roads. After a couple of years developing the business plan, creating a new dealer model and partnering with the right manufacturers, they launched ROUGH ROAD. The idea was simple: customers shouldn’t have to compromise on features or wait forever to get their caravan or trailer. With ROUGH ROAD you get high-spec, feature-rich models at the best price possible, delivered fast, with after-care support that’s actually easy to access. The goal is to give their customers everything they want without losing anything in the process. No cutting corners. No inflated price tags. Just seriously capable caravans and trailers built for kiwi roads.
What makes your off-grid caravans affordable? We build directly from our manufacturing partner in China, use online (rather than showrooms/yards) to customise your requirements and this means we pass savings on to you. This allows us to offer high-quality off-grid caravans/trailers at unbeatable prices, making them more accessible and leaving you more left over funds to make those amazing memories.
Is the quality of the caravans compromised because of the lower price? Absolutely not. The first stage of build is completed by our manufacturer partner who build caravans for leading dealer brands dominating the off-road market in Australia. The second and final stage is the completion of the builds in New Zealand to meet all our compliance and regulation requirements and ensure our vans are New Zealand road ready. You’re getting the same expert craftsmanship at a much lower cost due to the direct to-consumer model.
What kind of warranty do you offer? We stand by the quality of our caravans with a 24-month parts warranty and 24-month structural warranty.
What happens if my caravan needs servicing or repairs? We have a network of affiliated repairers across New Zealand that we can put you in touch with.
Can I get my caravan serviced at any repairer? For warranty claims and to ensure top-notch service, we require that you visit one of our affiliated repairers. However, we are continually expanding our network to ensure there’s a location convenient for you.
How can I be sure these caravans are built for off-grid conditions? Our caravans are designed to handle tough environments. The manufacturer has extensive experience producing caravans for the off-road market in Australia, a region known for some of the harshest terrains in the world. These caravans have been tested and trusted in real-world conditions.
What’s the process for ordering a caravan? You can browse our models online, and once you’ve chosen the perfect caravan, you can work with us on any customisations. We also have 2-3 models available in Auckland to view to give you peace of mind on build quality and features.
How long does delivery take? Delivery times can vary depending on the current demand and shipping schedules. Typically, you can expect delivery within 12-16 weeks after placing your order. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process.
Do you offer customization options? Yes, we provide a range of customization options to suit your off-grid and family needs. You can choose from various layouts and features to make sure your caravan fits your lifestyle perfectly. We are able to add outdoor kitchens, different awning or annex options, washing machines, TVs – depending on the size you choose.
